Eilidh Grant

Vocals & Piano, Musical Theatre, Music Camps, Ukulele club & Big Boss

Hello! I’m Eilidh, also known as the 'big boss' or 'wee yin.' I’m a multi-award-winning traditional Scottish vocalist and musician, with over 20 years of professional experience. In 2009, I won Traditional Scottish Album of the Year. As a musician, I’ve performed across Britain and Europe and have recorded several solo albums, as well as contributing to many others. I hold a BA Hons degree in Applied Music from UHI, and my love for teaching led me to establish Grants School of Music and Performance. My goal was to provide local students with tuition from not only qualified musicians but also talented, experienced, and wonderful individuals.

When I’m not running the school, teaching, or spending time with my husband, four children, and our dog, you’ll find me gigging with the Eilidh Grant Trio. My favourite part of teaching is seeing my students shine on stage after all their hard work. It takes real courage to step on stage, but once they do, they become stars!

Cameron Nixon

Violin & Vocals

As a 2020 BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year finalist, Cameron Nixon, is an up and coming Scots folk singer and fiddle player. Cameron has taught both voice and violin in schools as well as through organisations such as Fèis and Scottish Culture and Traditions (SCAT Youth). He graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Traditional Music from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2020. Cameron regularly plays with the Ragin’ Ceilidh Band both here in Scotland and internationally too as well as hosting his own radio show on Celtic Music Radio.

When not teaching or gigging, Cameron very much enjoys the outdoors whether that’s hillwalking, camping, skiing, mountain biking or playing football.

Laura Penman

Piano & Clarsach

I’m Laura, a clarsach player, pianist, and composer from Edinburgh. I attended the Gaelic school in Edinburgh, where I was immersed in Scottish tradition and song from an early age. After starting with classical piano, my passion for traditional music grew, leading me to graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2024 with a BMus in traditional music.

This year I am delighted to say that I’ve reached the finals of the BBC Young Traditional Musician of the Year competition.

I love working with students of all ages, leading group classes and workshops as well as offering one-to-one, student-led teaching.

When I’m not teaching or performing, I enjoy swimming, baking, and reading.

Delight Kwan

Piano & Violin

I began my musical journey in Hong Kong, starting piano at the age of four and violin at ten.

With the support of my  family and some wonderful teachers (and a lot of hard work), I received Silver Award in Hong Kong Children and Youth piano contest at age 16, and Violin Duet Senior Class First Place in the Internation Final of HKYPAF The 6th Hong Kong International Youth Performance Arts Festival along with my younger brother.

After attending a summer music course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in 2019, I developed a deep appreciation for Scottish music and landscapes, which inspired me to pursue my musical studies in Scotland.

I graduated from the University of Aberdeen with upper second-class honours in piano performance. During my studies, I was the orchestral pianist and violinist for the Symphony Orchestra, achieved the ATCL piano diploma, and the ARSM violin diploma, and was awarded NESMS scholarships on piano and violin from 2021 to 2025. The valuable experience I gained from school placements at Dyce Academy (2023) and Meldrum Academy (2022) inspired me to dedicate my life to teaching and performing. I have been teaching music for five years now.

As a piano and violin teacher in Grants School of Music and Sonata Piano School, I focus on improving students’ technical skills while making lessons enjoyable and tailored to each individual. I hope my passion for music will inspire my students deeply.
